Even if you’ve decided that Full Coverage doesn’t fit your needs, liability is something to consider. Why?
Michigan Auto Insurance: Liability Only
As mentioned earlier in this article, liability protects you against claims resulting from injuries and damage to other people/property.
Most States require that you carry liability on your vehicle. According to Michigan State Law , the Residual Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability (BI/PD) minimum is:

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Property Protection (PPI) are also required under Michigan Law.
What is Person Injury Protection?
Well, if your hurt in a accident, PIP will pay all reasonable medical expenses up to the maximum amount of coverage selected in your policy. It will also pay wages loss and replacement services up to 3 years after the accident.
So what are the coverage options for PIP medical coverages?
PIP Medical Coverages |

Unlimited Coverage |
$500,000 per person per accident |
$250,000 per person per accident |
$250,000 per person per accident with exclusions |
$50,000 per person per accident |
No PIP medical coverage* |
*The only way to opt-out of PIP medical coverage is to have Medicare Parts A & B AND all residents of your household have qualified health coverage or their own PIP medical coverage.*
What is Property Protection?
It pays up to $1,000,000 for any damage your vehicle does in the State of Michigan to another person’s property. It also will pay for damages your car has done to another person’s legally parked vehicle.
Again, these coverages are required by law.
