Full coverage can be carried along with the SR-22 filing. If you are financing a newer vehicle, and are required to carry full coverage, you may be able to add the SR-22 filing to your existing policy for a small fee if they offer SR-22.
SR22 Insurance Michigan: State Laws
If your license has been suspended because of a major conviction, you will be required to carry an SR-22 filing for 3-5 years, depending upon the conviction. You will need to carry the State Minimum Liability limits in order to have an SR-22. The SR-22 will be reported to the State of Michigan by your insurance provider.
