We understand cheap insurance is a priority, but it’s crucial to understand what your state requires, so at the very least, you are in compliance with the law.

In Nebraska’s case, they require the following coverage, for motorcycle and auto insurance alike:

  • $25,000 for bodily injury per person
  • $50,000 limit for bodily injury for all persons per each accident
  • $25,000 for property damage per accident.

Some states require something called “personal injury protection/PIP” also known as “no fault insurance.” This will cover expenses such as medical bills, lost wages, and even funeral costs, and pays out regardless of who is found at fault. Nebraska does NOT require PIP.

Nebraska Motorcycle Insurance: Laws You Need to Know

Not only do you need to meet the liability insurance requirements for Nebraska, but you need to understand beyond Nebraska motorcycle insurance…what other laws must you follow?

Nebraska Motorcycle Insurance: Cost for Liability Only

As mentioned above, you need to at least have liability coverage for your Nebraska motorcycle insurance policy.

Remember, while certain options such as uninsured & underinsured motorist coverage, and medical payments ARE NOT required in Nebraska, it doesn’t hurt to ask your insurance agent what your premium would look like with those things added.

It might not make the biggest difference, and you will be happy to have the extra peace of mind.

But if you really are searching for the cheapest, most “bare bones” insurance coverage for your motorcycle, take a look at what those rates could look like.

Nebraska Motorcycle Insurance: Cost for Full Coverage

If you noticed in the chart above, motorcycle insurance isn’t terribly expensive after all, so why not see what your full coverage options could be?

First, what exactly is full coverage motorcycle insurance?

In a nutshell, or in a cornhusk (hehe…get it?)…Full coverage includes comprehensive and collision.

While not required by the state to drive legally, this will give you added protection in the event that you hit another vehicle, or a non-moving structure like a tree or telephone pole.

You also have insurance for damage to your bike from things like fire, flood, or a windstorm.

And maybe…full coverage isn’t optional for you at all…if you are making payments to your motorcycle, your lienholder will require you to have full coverage.
