The founder behind A Plus
Shawn Christie founded A Plus Insurance in 2000 in Colorado Springs, CO, with an initial focus on life and health coverage. His wife Amy joined the brokerage in 2001, and together they have grown it into a family-owned business offering a full range of personal and commercial insurance products. Shawn’s mission has remained the same since day one: provide quality coverage at affordable prices, meeting the diverse needs of their clients.
Entrepreneurial from day one
Shawn was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has had an entrepreneurial spirit from the beginning — he started his own business at the age of 10.
In 1999, he began to work as an insurance broker for one of the first online insurance brokerage houses. There he obtained all of his residential and non-residential insurance licenses to sell insurance in 14+ states.
In 2000, Shawn founded A Plus Insurance with an initial focus on life and health coverage. His wife Amy joined him at the brokerage in 2001, and the following year — in 2002 — they expanded the product line to include auto insurance. That was the first step toward the multi-line brokerage A Plus is today.

What started as a life-and-health-focused brokerage in 2000 has grown well beyond that. Through the prompting of his clients, Shawn expanded the product line — starting with auto in 2002, then home, business, motorcycle, RV, and more. He has continued to integrate technology into the company to make doing business smooth and seamless from both an agent and a client perspective.
He continues to strive to make doing business with A Plus Insurance fast, efficient, and effective for our clients. His agents have served and delivered the highest level of customer service to over 26,000 clients in 35 states.
